The Bird Sisters
By Rebecca Rasmussen
Crown Publishing Group; April 2011
Milly and Twiss, two spinster sisters, who live in Spring Green, Wisconsin are known locally as “the bird sisters” a name they got because they are in the habit of rescuing injured birds. When they were young, Twiss and Milly were happy, fun loving sisters. However, the summer of 1947 forever changes their future as cousin Bett arrives. The Bird Sisters is told in chapters, alternating between the present, and that summer of 1947.
Rebecca Rasmussen's masterfully written debut novel is full of hope and beauty, heartbreak and sacrifice, love and the power of sisterhood, and offers wonderful surprises at every turn.
